My Story

My name is Jenny. I graduated from The School of Art at the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours in 2001, with a studio major in painting and open media. A year before I graduated, the summer of 2000, I took over an existing business called Woodlands Gallery. Over the years, I have changed the focus of the gallery, moved to a new location and have taken on new contemporary artists & artwork. Art is my passion and a huge part of my life.

Woodlands Gallery, my home away from home, is a retail art gallery specializing in original Canadian artwork and fine art services. I represent about 30 talented emerging and established artists from across Canada. The gallery is located in Winnipeg, Canada on Academy Road among several unique independently owned boutiques and restaurants.

I was Chair of the Academy Road Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) from 2008 to 2011 and enjoy networking and sharing ideas with other small business owners.

I am involved with an organization called Share Our Strength (SOS); an international organization that works hard to make sure no kid in North America and in our community grows up hungry. This year I co-chaired our local SOS chapter Taste of the Nation event.

I am an Alumna of Alpha Delta Pi - an international sorority and a phenomenal group of women.

I married a wonderful man named Ryan. In addition to art, when we get a chance, we love to travel as well as try delicious food and wine at some of the great restaurants we have right here in Winnipeg.

In this blog, I'm excited to share all sorts of creativity. I’ll share stories about the artists I represent, new artwork, gallery events and insights into my life in the art world. Once in a while I may also pass along some insights into our personal artful experiences. Enjoy!
