Sensual Forms by Virginie Schroeder

One of the most intriguing new artists you may find yourself being drawn to at the gallery these days is Virginie Schroeder.

What you might notice first about her work are the many layers making up the image.  Delicate transparent glazes, cleverly incorporated collage and bold strokes of graphite form the artist's often sensual and elusive female forms.  Often with their faces obscured, these elaborately decorated figures dance in a dreamlike world.  You will probably find yourself transfixed by the luminosity of the gold leaf and the swirling patterns of her specially made paints.
